LOS VERDADEROS VAQUEROS / The Real cowboys

This is how a real cowboy looked like

It does not look like the Hollywood image, starting with the hat, all Mexican vaquero!

In the old wild west that wasn´t wild !

When you think of a cowboy, the chances are that plenty of things come to mind, right? Riding through the desert, cowboy hats, and large boots complete with spurs are things that usually cross people’s minds. However, this photo, titled ‘The Cowboy,’ is thought to be the most accurate depiction of how they really looked all those years ago. The picture was taken by John C. H. Grabill, who worked as a miner at the time. Although this cowboy has his horse and hat, he also has large leather chaps that are often forgotten in modern times. The cowboy is also wearing a cloth neck wrap. This was more than just a fashion statement as people in the Wild West wore them to keep cool.
